The Stupid invasion continues its inexorable progress across the East Midlands this weekend, hitting The Attik in Leicester in support of The Catch-It Kebabs. Additional support comes from Doncaster ska-punkers Masenko and local boys Chief Libido. Doors 8:30ish, cost TBC.
Undaunted by our thrashing at Cox’s Yard, we once again don our chainmail and head out to do battle. We’re back at the Seven Stars in Hucknall, facing off against The Jam Tartans, LongDrop, Ax-Minster Scotchguard & The Numskulls and Khalo in the first round of their Battle Of The Bands. 8pm start, £3 in.
So, in case you’d forgotten, we recently went into the studio to record our new EP, ‘Stupid, Stupid, Stupid And Steve Want No Part In This’. We also had a competition in design the cover. Well, we waded through the mountain of entries and came up with a winner, so congratulations to Rob, whose voodoo-hell-rollercoaster vision had us scared and amused in roughly equal measures.
In order to launch this EP, we thought we’d have a party - an “EP Launch Party”, if you will. As we’re far to lazy busy to organise such a thing ourselves, we borrowed a thursday night at Robbin’s Well and you know what that means - Pirate Thursday!!! So get yourselves pirated up, and head on down to the Well to join us (now with 19% more lyrics!), Oxford punks Submerse, subtle Evesham hardcore outfit The C*nts and Doncaster ska-punkers Masenko. 8:30 start, £2 in as usual I guess…

That’s right people - we’ve hardly let the smell of the studio fade before we’re back onstage doing what we do better than anyone else, which is play our songs slightly too fast whilst under the influence of the Devil Drink. In this particular instance, we’re pitted against Fear Of The West and The Untouchables in a struggle for ultimate first-round supremacy in what can only be termed a Melée of Music. A Ruck of Rock. A Battle, if you will, of Bands.
All of which basically means that we need the Stupid Army in full effect to stand any chance of getting through to fight another day, so strap on your dancing boots and head for Cox’s Yard, where you should cheer your guts out for your favourite brass-punk vigilantes (us, in case that wasn’t clear). Three quid in, doors at 7:30pm and it’s a 14+ show.
The final day begins, a day of brass and vocals, and probably no small amount of swearing. Keep checking back on the comments for updates.
And so, the next day begins. Chris will be up next, laying down his ‘awesome bass groove’ for which he is so rightly famous. I’d imagine he’ll be in and out of that studio - they don’t call him Chris ‘One-take’ for nothing…
