New EP Recording Day 2
And so, the next day begins. Chris will be up next, laying down his ‘awesome bass groove’ for which he is so rightly famous. I’d imagine he’ll be in and out of that studio - they don’t call him Chris ‘One-take’ for nothing…

I’m all on my lonesome in the kitchen/chillout area of noisegate- Chris is half way through his 3rd track (battle of the blands, since you ask), matt and sam have taken the drumkit home and will shortly be returning with W Johnathon and some fried chicken. I’ve just finished polishing up the lyrics to Hollywood Hot Tubs in preparation for Tom’s arrival…
I have chowed down to my full satisfaction on a rockstar breakfast of chicken fried in the molten pools of hades and am about ready to pour some buttery guitarism on this recording, stay up players
We’re currently watching The Simpsons and discussing potential titles for the EP while Matt (Katz not Triangle) finishes up the drums. We also just realised that the lyrics to Hollywood are 8 lines short, which is a bit annoying…
With mr harmless rocking out in stereo upstairs, the rest of the band take a moment to reflect on the finer points of life. Power drinking, rap battles, flapjacks and a surprising large amount of tea, it’s all in a days work for the stupids. Forgot to bring spinal tap, but we’ve gotta save something for tomorrow, and sometimes brass feedback and kazoo out-takes just don’t cut it.
There’s some very nice-sounding guitar overdubs being laid down on 123 at the moment…
Well, despite the fact that the hardcore section of hollywood hottubs will haunt my dreams for years to come, my parts were finished earlier today, and I’ve been chilling out to the simpsons for most of the afternoon. John’s guitar is sounding as awesome as you’d expect, and we’ll hopefully be moving on to his vocals shortly. Tim has suddenly had a fit of (probably tea induced) paranoia about his harmonica abilities, so I finish off this blog as the lonely strains of his practicing echo through the studio.
Cabin fever is truly setting in. Matt is trying to climb the underside of the staircase, Chris is commenting on the lack of visible male genitalia in the modern comic book and I’m considering having YET ANOTHER cup of tea. I should have bought some beer.
We have 45 minutes to finish the guitars and lay down W Johnathon’s vocals. That’s going to be tight…
I just laid down my guitar parts which was a lot of fun
We finish the day laying down the harmonica solo in Hollywood. Some bluesy squawking later, fed through a guitar amp, and we’re done for a day. Brass and vocals day tomorrow - stay tuned, true believers…
